  • Kirks Original Coco Castile Soap is a heritage product dating back to the 1800’s. We recognize that over the years our consumers have more desire to understand what is in their products. In 2015, Kirk’s made the decision to offer full disclosure of ingredients in our products.

Now in fall of 2018, we roll out a new look. We are excited to carry on the Kirk’s legacy with refreshed graphics but no changes have been made to our formulas.

  • An Enduring History:
The origins of Castile soap are elusive and go back many centuries. The first references date to the
Levant (modern day Syria) where soap makers would create their products out of bay laurel oil in
conjunction with olive oil, water, and lye. It wasn’t until the idea of creating a natural soap from
vegetable-based ingredients reached the region of Castilla in Spain that the name Castile soap was
    born.

    Castile Soap Today:
Castile is known today as any soap made from vegetable-based oils, rather than using animal fat
(tallow). Kirk’s soaps don’t contain any olive oil but instead use 100% coconut oil as the main
ingredient. Coconut oil is an excellent replacement due to its healthy fats, which result in a creamy
lather and extra soft skin. Plus, Kirk’s soaps are vegan, cruelty-free and non-GMO verified.

  • Coconut Soap is made by a centuries-old, time honored process mixing coconut oil with lye (sodium hydroxide). This begins what is called the saponification process. During the saponification process the coconut oil and lye (sodium hydroxide) are converted into coconut soap. All traces of residual lye (sodium hydroxide) are fully neutralized in our exclusive soap-making process.

  • Kirk’s products are Phthalate-Free.

  • Kirk’s products do not contain sodium lauryl sulfate.

  • 3-in-1 Head to Toe Nourishing Cleansers  5.5 – 6.5 pH

Original Fresh Scent Bar Soap, Fragrance Free and Soothing Aloe Vera Bar soap 9.6 pH

Odor Neutralizing Liquid Hand Soaps 6.00 – 7.00 pH

  • Absolutely! Kirk’s bar soaps and liquid soaps can be used for washing clothes, delicates and more. Kirk’s recommends hand washing delicates in the sink. Visit our DIY Recipe page to learn more ways to multi-purpose our bar and liquid products.

  • Many customers use our Kirk’s 3-in-1 Head to Toe Nourishing Cleaners for multi-purpose cleaning throughout the house. There are no harmful ingredients in our formula and it leaves your dishes sparkling clean while being extremely mild on your hands.  Check out DIY Recipes to learn more about the multiple uses with our Liquid and Bar soap products.

*Please note our Liquid products are not meant to be used in dishwashers.

  • For Kirk’s liquids and our Aloe Bar Soap, our fragrances are blends of Essential oils and natural scent materials.

Our Original Fresh Scent Bar is a legacy scent which is a combination of synthetic fragrance and essential oils from the pine and citrus family. The gluten-free, synthetic ingredients do not contain Phthalates, Parabens, EDTA or animal by-products.

All of our bars have been tested under the control of a dermatologist and are hypoallergenic, non-irritating and safe for sensitive skin. For those with highly sensitive skin, we recommend our Kirk’s Fragrance Free Gentle Castile Soap.

  • Eye: The product is mild enough that no damage or irritation should occur. In the event that irritation does occur, warm water poured over the bridge of the nose for a couple of minutes should be enough. If symptoms persist, a doctor should be consulted.

Ingestion: The product is not poisonous. If a large quantity is ingested, it may cause vomiting.

Skin: The product contains no known irritants or allergens. An adverse reaction, while unusual, is most likely due to individual allergies. If adverse reaction occurs, please discontinue use of product immediately.

  • Yes, lye is used to convert coconut oil into soap. Kirk’s soap contains no free lye or lye residues in it. All traces of residual lye are fully neutralized in our soap-making process.

  • Send an email to Thien@kirksnatural.com. Please list the name of your store, the address and the Kirk’s products you proudly carry

  • Coconut Oil

  • No, Kirk’s soap is not antibacterial. However, coconut oil has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

  • Vegetable glycerin is a natural product made from vegetable oil, often coconut or palm oil. Glycerin is classified as a humectant, meaning it attracts moisture to the skin, and is thought to leave the skin moist and healthy. It has very emollient properties and can help soften and smooth the skin.

  • Kirk’s is your perfect solution! Critics state that many products are toxic to soil organisms when discharged from your septic system and aquatic environments when sewage treatment plants discharge into a river. Kirk’s prides itself on being completely biodegradable. All surfactants used in Kirk’s are biodegradable. This means all sudsing and cleaning agents are broken down into simpler compounds by natural biological action helping to eliminate foaming problems in lakes and streams.

  • You might be surprised to learn that skin does not have a neutral pH. In fact, pH can vary based on the part of the body, and even from person to person. Our Kirk’s Original Fresh Scent Bar soap has a pH of 9.6. For some people, this may cause some irritation in the private areas. If you experience discomfort, we recommend using a product with a very mild pH or a product that is specific to that area of the body.
